You want water and the brain presents images or thoughts about how to get some water. If you're driving, you may imagine a restaurant, think of a bottle of aqua, or picture your kitchen faucet.
A visualization script for relaxation is a powerful tool. When your mind is anxious or scattered it can become peaceful, serene and centered. To write your own visualization script, remember a time or place when you were incredibly relaxed. Choose one experience… Being in nature is often the source for the clearest, most memorable and pleasurable experiences. It is easy to make up a script from imagination based on cumulative experiences in nature, as in the following example:
I am completely at ease on the sun drenched sand... my body is warm from the sun ... I feel relaxed from my head to my toes...
The sound of the ocean crashing on the shore... quiets my mind... the sound of the waves is so peaceful ...
splashes from the ocean cool my skin... I can taste the salt... all my tension releases into the sand... the seagulls' cries remind me, I am one with everything.
Golden Tip: Be sure you customize my words to work for you. Read them out loud slowly. Discover which words resonate in your body, mind and heart. Replace any that do not take you into the state of relaxation you desire. Expand this visualization script for relaxation to be at least three minutes when you read it out loud.
Print your script into your Meditation Journal or your Relaxation Journal. It’s so fulfilling to keep a notebook with your techniques, along with a few words describing your experiences.
