The following 3 techniques how to meditate will become your tranquil inner sanctuary...
1. Techniques How To Meditate: Breath To make it very easy for yourself, I suggest before using this technique, first relax your body. Once your body is well-relaxed, the meditation will feel natural. So, after body relaxation: - Inhale: maintaining a nice posture, notice how your breath enters... the coolness at your nostrils... how deeply it comes into your lungs... your belly expands... the small sound the breath makes...
- Exhale: again, notice your belly contracting... emptying of your lungs... the sensations at your throat and nostrils... the sound...
Now, close your eyes, simply paying attention to the breath like this. Do it 5-7 more times.
2. Techniques How To Meditate: Mantra This is another empowering technique that unites you with your true self. A mantra leads you into your heart space. It takes you beyond your busy mind to your Source, where you feel "at one". Do you know the history of mantra meditation? The original language of mantras is Sanskrit. A mantra actually protected, as well as focused the mind. Mantra is an actual science of ancient India. In my free guided relaxation teleclasses I give specific mantras to the participants. For the purpose of this 2nd of the techniques how to meditate, we’ll use English words that help focus your mind. For instance, the phrase in the complimentary meditation audio download is, "I Am Light". If you haven’t already, download (at the bottom of this page) and try it. You can supplement other phrases like "I am Love" or, "All this is One". Remember... experiment!
3. Techniques How To Meditate: Visual Focal Point Have you noticed how nature gives you abundant ways to meditate? Choose an object of beauty or simplicity: a flower, a fire or candle flame, water, or a garden view. As always, first relax your body. Have a comfortable, steady posture. Your visual focal point attitude is to softly gaze at the object as a whole. Have an attitude of respect... imagine the object is part of you. Let your thoughts come and go, without getting involved in them. If you have a timer, set it for 3 minutes. When the time ends, notice how well you were able to stay focused on the object. Please be gentle with yourself, never judgmental. Promise! As you practice this meditation technique, gradually extend the time. Believe it or not, two side effects you will begin to notice are more focused relaxation and increased concentration.
After each of these techniques how to meditate take a moment and notice: - How did you feel before beginning?
- And, how do you feel after your meditation?
