3 More Meditation Practice Tools for Relaxation and Stress Relief
Here are the first 3 meditation practice tools , if you missed them!
TOOL #4. Least known of the meditation practice tools is THE MIND.
The sage Patanjali lived around 400. His great legacy was how to understand our mind. We can learn to use our pure imagination, rather than our horror-movie imagination. The right use of your mind can lead you into meditation. Your imagination is powerful. When you use it to uplift yourself you can glimpse God, Goddess, Love, Light or Source in your own heart. I suggest experimenting with the instructions. I'm sure you will find, as you lead your mind in a positive direction, it will follow you into your heart. TRY THIS BLISSFUL MEDITATION: With your eyes closed, mentally write a letter to Light or God. You decide who it will be to... Compose the letter naturally, effortlessly, allowing the words to flow... You might start with, "Dear Light, thank you for living in my heart all the time..." Continue mentally composing your letter until the words naturally end.
Then, sit quietly. Notice how you feel. What comes to your attention? What was your experience?
TOOL #5. One of the most useful meditation practice tools is JOURNALING.
Over time, a meditation journal records your meditations and how you have grown. It can be fun and creative. Like every part of meditation, there is no right or wrong way. There is only what works for you.
Jot down a word or image when meditation ends. Keep a notepad and pencil by the place where you meditate. Or, you can have a more elaborate journal book that inspires you. Both ways are wonderful. I have journaled my meditations for 30 years with sketches of images in meditation. And I'm no artist. They help me remember my experiences. Sometimes you may write a line about something you're worried about. After meditation you might describe how meditation dissolved your worry. Or a solution may come for a problem you identified at the beginning. TOOL #6. ATTITUDE - We learn meditation by doing it with love and joy.
Approach each meditation with enthusiasm. Have an attitude of wonder: What will happen today? Take 10 seconds after to notice how you feel from meditation. If you were stressed, upset or had low energy at the start, do you feel more peaceful and refreshed now? Each of these meditation practice tools is a way to connect daily with Light, God or Source. They are highly effective. I suggest using one for a week. Then try another for a week, and so on. Notice which ones work well for you? If you don't relate to one, let it go.
At some point, try a live class from the comfort of your home. From time to time I offer the free guided relaxation and meditation through Teleclasses.
