Meditation And Stress Relief: Simple Tools For Calming The Mind

Meditation and stress relief quickly calms your mind when you're confused, angry, sad or upset. When bad news lands on your kitchen table or work desk, it helps to have a simple meditation to bring you back to center. The warm blanket of serenity easily transforms any situation. After all, you can't often control what happens to you. But you can control how you respond to it...

Let's try this one now. Meditation and stress relief visualizations soothe and soften your negative emotions. They sometimes reduce physical pain, when done for 15 minutes daily. We'll do it now for 1-2 minutes. First, sit up comfortably, feet flat on the floor, arms uncrossed. Take two or three deep breaths.

Meditation And Stress Relief You're going to imagine cleaning your heart. You've cleaned a lot of stuff, so you know what to do, in your imagination. First, imagine, sense or visualize (either is fine) you can easily pop your heart out ... now imagine holding your heart in your hands.

Begin washing it with water, as you gently hold it ... Turn it over. Imagine the debris of anger, sadness or whatever comes up for you. It's all being washed away...

You'll know when it is clean and fresh ... then place it once again inside your body. Just tenderly pop it back in. Take a couple of deep breaths and sense your heart. Focus on the center of your chest for a few moments.

Now that you have the idea, try it again when you have time, maybe even at bedtime. It will calm you by taking you beyond thinking.
What actually happened? This is a Creative Visualization, one form of meditation for stress relief.

Meditation and stress relief may take a little practice or feel natural for you. First, you might notice your busy or anxious thoughts continue to flip flop. You can begin with physical instructions to settle your body. Allow yourself to be fully involved in the instructions for whatever time you have. And experiment! It's like preparing a delicious dish of food...add a little of this and some of that.

Voila! You may have a tangible experience. You might feel serenity or something else you need. And when you experiment with a relaxation script you'll marvel at the results.

Meditation and Stress Relief Affect Other People Too ...

...as you begin to meditate regularly. Once I visited a young woman in hospital.

There were four in her room. All but one formed a circle with their chairs. The fourth was too sick. She seemed to be sleeping.

After meditation, the women shared their experiences. Then the fourth woman sat up in the bed, "That’s the first time all week my lunch stayed down!" She was affected by the positive energy of meditation in the room.
