What Are the Most Fun Ways
to Relieve Stress?
In my classes and seminars women love the fun ways to relieve stress. They give you freedom to be creative. You can express yourself in new and outrageous ways! Use one of these the next time stress creeps up on you.... before it overwhelms you! Here are three to choose from.
#1: Experience Your Inner Rock Star
Complain, wail, moan... create your own lyrics to a favorite melody, in one of the musical fun ways to relieve stress.
For example, you may have heard "You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling", a 1965 #1 hit song by the Righteous Brothers: "...You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your li-ips..." It’s heart wrenching.
Oddly, one of the most fun ways to relieve stress is to feel your blue feelings! You know the kind... when you feel sad, or confused, or simply misunderstood.
OK, my sweet Rockette, here’s how to do it.
When you’re having a stressful day, express your feelings. Sing them unworried about your voice... Sing how you feel, such as:
"I’ve lost that lovin’ feeling, no more happy feelin'...
Don’t wanna talk on the phone, just wanna be alone...
No one knows how tired I am, tryin’ hard to give all that I can...
Who appreciates my lovin’ heart?
Whoa-oh, tell me, tell me how I’m gonna’ get a new start...
Today’s just bluer than blue-oo, ‘cause I’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’...
You never know... a song writer may buy your lyrics some day!
#2. Twirl Like a 5-Year Old Child
This is not only one of the best fun ways to relieve stress...
Twirling or spinning activates the chakra energy center at the base of your spine. It gets rid of lethargy and the lower emotions that drag our energy down.
Using this fun way to relieve stress actually builds your feelings of well-being both physically and emotionally. It clears your mind for your next task or social outing.
Make space away from any objects, especially if you are indoors.
Have carpet or grass in case you lose balance. While falling is unlikely, it is a possibility.
Turn clockwise at a pace that is comfortable. To avoid getting dizzy, choose one point for your eyes to focus on with each round. Do up to 21 twirls or less.
#3. Laugh For No Reason
This is one of the quickest fun ways to relieve stress.
Laughter is the most natural and powerful stress buster you can use. As you laugh, your shoulders drop and the tension that accumulates around your heart and lungs is massaged away and released.
Wonder if it's OK to laugh alone? Don’t you need something to laugh at?
Well, you may have not known this before, but laughter stimulates an immediate change in your brain wave. This is the reason laughter feels so deliciously good! And no, your brain does not need something to laugh about.
How does laughter work as one of the fun ways to relieve stress?
Begin with a quiet coughing. It’s close to laughter and feels familiar, normal. As you continue, sense a tickle of laughter located in your solar plexus. Allow your mouth to smile. Now let the cough become a gentle 'Ha Ha Ha'... Then allow the 'Ha Ha Ha' to expand to 'Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha'... This is quiet at first.
If you are alone during 'Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha' slap your thighs, close your eyes and really go for it! About 30 seconds or one minute are enough. You'll feel the shift instantly. I suggest 5-15 minutes sometime when you're with your best friend and want to change the mood to ecstatic! Useful tip: When you drive, you can easily 'Ha Ha Ha' in the car and change your inner state--as long as you keep your eyes on the road.
For further fun and stress relief try listening to nature sounds; they can relax you and support your meditations. You may feel like you've been transported to a remote wilderness.
